Tondr? Alarid established a vineyard on his family?s historic ranch in Monterey?s Santa Lucia Highlands. In the hands of his son Joe Alarid, the estate has become one of the S.L.H.?s best known properties. The Highlands? sparse mountainside soils and windy Monterey Bay-influenced climate produce some of the country?s best Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The combination of a perfect site and meticulous farming makes for truly great wines.
From Tim’s tasting notes: “A very high-toned Chardonnay with lots of ‘wow factor.’ Wonderful aromas and flavors of ripe pear skin, citrus, melon, and honeysuckle. A good backbone of fresh acidity provides structure before the long finish kicks-in, led by a sweet straw barrel character with a touch of vanilla and spice. A slam dunk match for cracked crab with garlic aioli or just about any cream-sauced pasta dish.”
