2017 Madonne Estate

Overview

The Sarah’s Vineyard Madonne is our local effort to emulate the traditional
red wines of the southern Rhone Valley. It is a blend of estate grown, Rhone
red varieties – in this case, primarily Grenache. The final cepage is 71% Grenache, 12% Syrah, 12% Mourvedre, and 5% Counoise.

Tasting Notes

The ’17 Madonne displays a vast fruit presence of dark cherries, blackberries,
and raspberries on the nose. It is also showing delicate oral notes, along
with hints of cinnamon and cocoa powder. The palate showcases raspberry,
lavender, and violet components with savory notes of pepper and baking
spices on the long finish. Pair with hearty braised short ribs, creamy mashed
potatoes and roasted vegetables, or simply with blue cheese and your favorite
charcuterie.
