Tasting Notes

The 2018 Sarah’s Vineyard Grenache Rosé is dry but displays a delightful fruit forward mouthfeel. It tastes of pure summer with subtle aromas and flavors of strawberry, peach, sage, watermelon, and thyme. This rosé should be served well-chilled and enjoyed in the short term. It is crafted for summer and fall sipping and is the perfect poolside apéritif. It will also pair beautifully with many traditional picnic foods, grilled fish and vegetables, as well as more substantiual al fresco fare such as Salade Niçoise.

Vinification

The fruit was harvested on October 19 of 2018. Block B3, rows 1 through 6, supplied the Grenache fruit.

For rosé, the red wine grapes are typically harvested early, to supply bright acidity and just a hint of color. We hand-picked in the early morning that day; we “whole cluster pressed” at a  gentle max of 1.2 barr pressure - just enough to draw the desired salmon color off the skins. After fermentation, the wine was matured in neutral French oak cooperage for three months.
